October is Breast Cancer Awareness Month. One in four women will be diagnosed with breast cancer in their life time. We all know someone who has been affected by breast cancer. One way we can help is through hair donation. The American Cancer Society, Pechanga Resort and Spa and Pantene Beautiful Length collect hair to donate to cancer patients to make wigs. You can donate as little as 8 inches, which can make a big difference!
I decided to join a mother and daughter duo to donate our hair on Fox and Friends! It was a powerful experience meeting the cancer patients who directly benefit from your hair donation. I have never cut off a large amount of hair, so this was a new experience for me. Although 8 inches seems like a lot-it really was not that much. Our hair was put in low pigtail and then cut right at the rubber band. The host of Fox and Friends weekend, Abby Huntsman, cut half my hair live on the air and then the stylist from Pechanga Spa cut the other half. Although it was a bit uneven, the fabulous stylist fixed it after the taping!
Donating hair is a little thing you can do that can make a big difference in the life of a cancer survivor. If you have long hair and would like to donate, visit Pantene Beautiful Lengths to see how you can get involved. October is a great time to donate!
